Twitter Starting To Crack Down Inappropriate Users?

by Ket-Sang Tai

Today I read an article from Mashable that Twitter has shut down Stattweets. Stattweets is a service designed to keep followers apprised of sports and team-related stats through a series of roughly 650 Twitter accounts. It is arguable if they did the right thing.

What does that mean? That means Twitter is starting to crack down on users who are misusing twitter for various purposes, in order to protect their users and their own reputation.

What does that mean to YOU? If you are doing the following, you have to be careful and reconsider what you are doing:

1. Using multiple accounts to promote different products or services.

2. Using a bot to promote mass following.

3. Using any viral scheme (or following-ponzi as they call it).

4. Using account name which violate copyright, especially true for MLM distributors who open a twitter account using their MLM company name.

You have to bear in mind that twitter is meant to be a micro-blogging and social network which let users find interesting connection and stay in touch with friends and family. It can be used for marketing purposes but only within the social media rules.

To Your Success,
