The Challanges Faced By MLM In 21st Century

by Ket-Sang Tai

The landscape of Network Marketing or MLM has changed dramatically in the last 10-20 years. There used to be only a handful of companies. Marketing was done mainly offline and distributors tend to stick with one companies for a long time. However, things have changed dramatically. Let’s consider the following points:

1. MLM Boom: With the advance of the internet, it has become increasingly easy to start a new network marketing company, especially with internet based products. People can start a company from their bedrooms if they want to! If you want proof, you can go to npros.com and see how many new companies are listed every month.

2. Information Age: With the information age, there comes the problem of information overload. It is so easy to connect with people online and to deliver information in a big scale. Distributors are constantly bombarded by advertisements and recommendations about other MLM companies, usually the prelaunch ones.

3. Attrition: The result of that is the ever increasing attrition rate. The large organisation you build today might not be there in 5-10 years down the line.

As a result, a lot of people are moving away from traditional MLM and become advocate of the Get Paid Today concept. The basic principal is that you get paid more commission upfront. So even if your organisation disappears in 5-10 years, at least you have already got the cash in hand which you can invest in other assets.

At the end of the day, it is controversial and up for debate. Personally I like the Get Paid Today concept but it might not be right for you.
