Attraction Marketing Myth

by Ket-Sang Tai

The Law of Attraction is an universal law which has influenced our society for centuries. We are attracted to things or people we like. We are attracted to people who we think can offer value to us and enrich our lives. We are attracted to leaders who have the character and ability we admire. This is simply common sense.

The word Attraction Marketing has been made popular by a group of internet marketers in the 21st century. There are many people who claim to be Attraction Marketing experts and use Attraction Marketing system to market online. Of course there are people who are really experts in what they do and can offer value to the community, but there are also newbies who are essentially copycat and pretend to be experts. So what really is Attraction Marketing?

Attraction Marketing is about:

1. Improving yourself to become a better person and marketer.

2. Providing value and leadership to the community you are in.

3. Leading by example and with integrity.

It is certain NOT about (although many people think it is):

1. Having the best blog

2. Claiming or pretending to be an expert (you can claim whatever you want as long as you hide behind your blog, but as soon as you start any type of conversation (online/offline), people will know the truth)

3. Having the best capture page promising “marketing secrets”.

4. Selling systems or course in order to make money from other struggling marketers

So for network marketing and internet marketing newbies, continuously improving yourself and learning marketing so that one day you can be a leader and offer value to the community is important. However, hoping that you can make a lot of money in short period of time by pretending to be an expert or using an “Attraction Marketing System” is going to lead you to the “failure” land. When you acquire the required level of skill, character and quality of a leader, attraction will come naturally from you, not from your system or your blog.

  • Hi Ket 🙂

I like what you wrote on point 2 of “what attraction marketing is not – Claim to be an expert, hide behind the blog, and as soon as u start a conversation, people know the truth!” Haha!

You’re a true marketer indeed, and that’s how i got attracted to you in the first place, without you even knowing 🙂

  • Jeffrey

    Hello Ket,

Yup, you hit bulls eyes.. Integrity and honesty is also what makes a true leader stand out which I got attracted by you 2 years back… 🙂

  • John

True words indeed. Unfortunately in terms of the rules of attraction you can’t fake it until you make it. You really have to be who you claim to be or else it will all backfire. As you learn and grow you become more attractive to others and people start following your ideas and advice. Great article!

@Thanks Jeff and DIng for your comment. @John, I couldn’t agree with you more. Let’s keep working and giving value.

  • “Providing value and leadership to the community you are in.” is the main focus that attraction marketing depends on. You can not attract anybody if your blog or site is full of rubbish and useless information.
