60% of First Time Twitter Users Quit Within 1st Month.

You  might have read somewhere that 60% of first time twitter users quit within 1 month. I think it is completely understanable that it is not everyone’s cup of tea. People are drawn to Twitter by other social mediaand traditional mass media and want to find out what the fuss is all about. Not everyone like the idea of status update alone within other features like you find on Facebook or MySpace. Sometimes I do wonder myself why Twitter is so popular.

What that means to marketers is that we should not put all our eggs (marketing effort) into one basket (Twitter). I remember a few years ago when Facebook was the hottest thing on the internet. It is still very popular and growing but the spotlight is not on them anymore. Look at MySpace now and how it was 5 years ago. Can anyone be sure that there won’t be another social network coming up in the next few years which is better than Twitter?

What I am trying to say is that if you are putting all your effort in Twitter and negleting other forms of marketing, then you taking a big risk. A lot of other marketing methods like Facebook, article marketing, video marketing, solo ads, free classified and pay per click are very effective and should be considered. My advice is to choose 3-4 methods which you feel most comfortable with and spread your effort across the 3-4 methods.
